How to adjust the flow temperature on an Alpha InTec

Two knobs with a small screen in the middle. The right-hand knob with the radiator symbol is heating flow. This is the older InTec fascia, not E-Tec or Evoke.

Alpha InTec control panel with a hot-water knob on the left, a small display in the middle, and a radiator knob on the right.
5 hot water. 6 heating flow (radiator knob on the right). 1 on/off. 2 summer/winter. Turn the right-hand radiator knob, not the hot-water knob.

Set the heating flow

Typical target is about 55°C if the house still warms. When you turn the heating knob, the display shows the set temperature in °C. When heating is on, it then shows the water temperature leaving the boiler to the radiators.

  1. Press the on/off button so the boiler is On, not Standby or Off.
  2. Press the Summer/Winter button until Winter is selected. Winter is heating and hot water. Summer is hot water only, with heating off even if the room controls ask for it.
  3. Turn the right-hand radiator knob (6). Clockwise raises the flow. Anticlockwise lowers it. Stop when the display shows the flow you want.

Leave the left-hand hot-water knob if you only came to lower the heating.

If an outdoor weather probe is fitted, the display shows a weather-compensation symbol and the heating knob no longer sets °C. It sets a curve from 1 to 9. For example, line 6 gives about 60°C flow when it is 10°C outside. That is still radiator water temperature, not room temperature.

If your fascia is a screen with up and down buttons and a pressure gauge on the right, use the E-Tec / Evoke steps.

Look up your exact model on Boiler Manuals if the fascia does not match. Then return to the Alpha flow-temperature page or the Boiler Optimiser.
