Vaillant F56 Fault Code

Mass flow sensor regulation fault

Back to Vaillant Fault Codes

Gas Safe: Gas work, flue work, and PCB replacement on a gas boiler must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Homeowners can check obvious items such as heating pressure, condensate overflow, and whether a control is unplugged — then call an engineer.

Always confirm the part number against the boiler GC number and the installation manual before ordering.

Overview

F.56 means the gas valve cannot be regulated against the mass-flow (Venturi) sensor. It sits with F.52 / F.53 (sensor) and F.26 / F.61 / F.62 (valve / electronics).

Vaillant meaning: Mass flow sensor regulation fault

Possible causes

Possible solutions

  1. Check working inlet gas pressure. Low supply also shows as F.54 / F.28.
  2. Prove the gas-valve plug (often X25 on ecoTEC) and loom continuity. See F.26.
  3. Inspect the Venturi filter cap for wetness or blockage — same checks as F.52 / F.53.
  4. Replace the gas valve as a complete assembly if the electrical drive is good and regulation still fails. Combustion must be set after replacement.
